Ginseng is known as traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. It is said to be a powerful supplement for its amazing benefits in the body. It can be a booster for the immune system to fight off viruses or bacterias, enhance vitality, increase physical endurance, increase mental alertness, and treat illnesses like colds, fevers, headaches, and vomiting. If these illnesses can be treated by ginseng, it will be a great help for humanity. 

There are three classifications of ginseng: fresh, white and red. For these three, there are different harvesting times. Fresh ginseng is harvested before 4 years, while white ginseng is harvested between 4–6 years and red ginseng is harvested after 6 or more years. The most popular ginseng will be American and Asian ginseng. These two have their own property that functions in the body. American ginseng works as a relaxing agent while Asian ginseng has an invigorating effect in the body.

Ginseng as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. It has been shown to help reduce inflammatory markers and help protect against oxidative stress. There are multiple studies on how effective these properties to people which is very helpful. 

Ginseng could also improve erectile dysfunction. Studies show that ginseng may be a useful alternative for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men. It shows that the components of ginseng may promote the production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a compound that improves muscle relaxation in the penis and increases blood circulation. 

Ginseng as an immune system booster. It may strengthen the immune system in people with cancer and even enhance the effects of certain vaccinations. Even though there are studies show improvements in immune system markers with people who have cancer. They still need to do further studies to prove that ginseng can boost the resistance of people. 

Ginseng could be used to lower blood sugar. It has a beneficial control to the blood glucose of people, particularly fermented red ginseng. It may help increase insulin production, enhance blood sugar uptake in cells and provide antioxidant protection.

These benefits of ginseng could be very helpful to humanity, especially for those who are suffering from a particular disease. These claims need to have further studies for the people to be more dependent on it. Taking some ginseng supplements won’t hurt you especially in moderation.
